- אַרְוִיסָא, אַרְוָוסָאm. (a transpos. of אַפְסִירָא, אַפְסָרָא) halter (Rashi). (Ar. chain, Perl. Et. St. p. 21 = Pers. arvîs rope. Yeb.46a רמו ליה ארוו׳וכ׳ Ar. ed. Koh. (ed. ארוי׳, Ar. ed. ארוסיה) they put a halter around his neck (to prevent him from claiming his liberty).
